NICHOLAS LAROSA

FOUNDER – LEAD INSTRUCTOR

Nicholas has been teaching full-time since 2014 and brings over 17 years of experience in martial arts. He holds second-degree black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo, with six years of professional competition experience. In 2019, he contributed to the USA Olympic Judo Camp. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Criminology from Arizona State University, graduating summa cum laude with a focus on criminal law and recognition for academic and leadership excellence.

Nicholas is certified as a Tactical Emergency Casualty Care and Stop the Bleed instructor and is a member of NAEMT. He completed EMT training and has over 400 hours of advanced life support education, including IV and IO access, airway management, needle decompression, and the SOAR Rescue Red Cell Responder course in prehospital blood intervention. He traveled to Israel for immersive training in counterterrorism and prehospital medicine, working directly with intelligence and medical professionals in real-world environments without any classroom instruction.

Through Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, he was selected to participate in law and policy programs held at the U.S. Supreme Court and the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. During his graduate studies, he supported reentry and recidivism initiatives through the Inside Out Network across multiple states. His tactical training includes nearly 500 hours of hands-on instruction in firearms, low-light and night vision shooting, close-quarters battle, and vehicle tactics. He graduated as the top student from KDI’s Dignitary Protection Course, Class 22-02.

STEPHEN

Stephen began his career in Emergency Medical Services in 2013 as a frontline provider for county operations. In 2016, he was promoted to Coordination Manager and helped launch an ambulance company that supported both the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, gaining experience in planning and interagency coordination.

Stephen lateraled into law enforcement, where he served on a state tactical unit and continues to assist with medical operations. His EMS background has been critical in high-risk environments, allowing him to deliver care under pressure. In 2023, he was recognized with a Life Saving Award for decisive action during a medical emergency.

MACK

Mack began his career in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantryman. He completed the Designated Marksman Course, the Advanced Marksman Training Program, and the Infantry Unit Leaders Course. After the military, he worked with the Utah County Sheriff’s Department as a part-time instructor and armorer and served as an EMT with their Search and Rescue team in the Uinta Mountains. From 2015 to 2018, Mack worked with Modern Threat Response.

Mack completed their advanced pistol and carbine programs, close protection training, and the 40-hour GardaWorld Security course. He trained regularly with the team and supported advanced law enforcement training for the Utah County Sheriff’s Department. He also served as a driver and team lead on Protective Security Detail contracts, including work in South America. His duties included plain-clothes defense, vehicle operations, and designated marksman roles.

KEVIN

Kevin is a lifelong martial artist with a strong background in both striking and grappling. He holds a black belt in American Karate, a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kenpo Karate, and a blue belt in Judo. He has also trained in impact and edged weapon defense and has assisted in handcuffing and defensive tactics courses alongside Professor LaRosa.

CURTIS

Curtis is a full-time police officer with six years of experience in a large metropolitan department. He is an AZPOST-certified firearms instructor, authorized to teach duty handgun and red dot handgun. He holds additional certifications in shotgun, patrol rifle, 40mm less lethal, and advanced less lethal tools. He has completed training in emergency medical care, including Stop the Bleed, and is a graduate of a professional lock picking course focused on non- destructive entry.

SAM

Sam is a former U.S. Army Infantryman who specialized in mechanized, dismounted anti-armor and Combat Lifesaver. He spent the majority of his military service conducting urban operations and reconnaissance missions, supporting coordinated assaults on towns and villages while operating the AT-4 anti-armor weapon system.

After transitioning from the military, Sam gained valuable private security experience working with GardaWorld, where he provided armed currency transport and vault security, as well as with Affinium Security, where he escorted personnel and developed security protocols for a scientific research facility. Currently, Sam works within the firearms industry at FullerPHX, a manufacturer known for custom AK platforms and Combloc weapon builds.

MATT S.

Matt S. is a seasoned law enforcement officer with over 14 years of service in a major metropolitan police department. He holds certifications as an AZPOST Medical Instructor and firearms instructor for handgun, shotgun, rifle, and red dot handgun platforms. With a paramedic certification earned in 2004, Matt brings a unique blend of emergency medical services and law enforcement experience, fueling his passion for training first responders in Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) and Law Enforcement Tactical Casualty Care (LE-TCC).

MATT B.

Matt is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a black belt in Karate. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach with over ten years of teaching and training experience. He is a former Arizona State Karate Champion and has won multiple gold medals in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Matt teaches striking and grappling in Arizona and offers private lessons for law-abiding citizens, athletes, and first responders. He also trains in edged weapons, impact weapons, and firearms, giving him a solid understanding of real-world violence and the use of force.

NICK M.

Nick holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy with a concentration in homeland security and emergency management from Arizona State University. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in intelligence studies with a focus on national security intelligence at Georgetown University. Building on his academic foundation, Nick has over two years of professional experience working within the intelligence community. During this time, he has gained practical insight into intelligence operations, counterterrorism, and national security efforts focused on homeland security.

Nick’s experience includes on-the-ground engagement in Israel, where he participated directly in counterterrorism efforts, gaining a firsthand understanding of the strategies and complexities involved. He has also conducted extensive research in Ghana focused on human trafficking, providing him with a valuable perspective on one of the world’s most pressing transnational crimes. Additionally, Nick has completed advanced language training in German, Arabic, and Spanish, thereby enhancing his ability to operate in diverse environments and engage with a broad range of sources.

BRIAN

Brian is a former Department of Energy Special Response Team (DOE-SRT) operator with hands-on experience in high-risk environments and advanced tactical training. While assigned to SRT, he completed Tactical Response Force Foundational Tactical Training, Basic Security Police Officer Training, and TRF 200 Advanced Tactical Training. He also attended site-specific programs including Mechanical and Ballistic Breaching and weapons-specific training on systems such as the M240B, MK46, M134D, and M32MGL.

Today, Brian supports national security efforts through causal investigations for the Weapons Production Directorate at Los Alamos National Laboratory. His role contributes to the oversight and accountability of the nation’s weapons production programs. Outside of his federal work, Brian is a certified Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and instructor. With years of experience in both competition and coaching, his teaching focuses on calm decision-making under pressure, effective control, and applying fundamentals in practical settings.

NICK C.

Nick is currently a Maritime Enforcement Specialist in the United States Coast Guard. Nick specializes in counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, counter-trafficking, anti-piracy, IUU fishing enforcement, alien migrant interdiction operations (AMIO), and non-compliant vessel pursuit

(NCVP). He is currently assigned to a national security cutter, conducting maritime law enforcement, enforcing federal law on the high seas, and training foreign partner forces around the world. His operational background includes joint VBSS missions with USCG MSRT-West and the Philippine Special Forces, as well as training engagements with the Taiwan Coast Guard, Philippine Coast Guard, and South Korean Coast Guard. He has worked extensively alongside multinational entities, including Joint Interagency Task Force South. Nick is a certified Tier 2 Combat Lifesaver Instructor and FLETC Certified Law Enforcement Instructor.

ANDREW

Andrew began his military service in 2014 with the United States Marine Corps as an Engineer and Machine Gunner. He completed the Machine Gun Leaders Course multiple times, earned a black belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, and attended the Combat Hunter Course.


He trained in mountain, arctic, jungle, desert, and maritime environments and completed Advanced CBRN Recon and Detection. He later transitioned to the United States Army as an 11B Infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division, where he became a Weapons Squad Leader and was selected for the division’s Shooting Team. His training included Army Combatives Level 2, Advanced Urban Operations, Air Assault, FRIES/SPIES, Combat Life Saver, TCCC, TECC, and Stop the Bleed. He is certified in Pre- Hospital Trauma Medicine and served as an Air Base Ground Defense Instructor.

Andrew spent three years overseas conducting joint training with the Japanese Self-Defense Force, the Thai Marines, the British Army, the Royal Marines, the Brazilian Army, and the Norwegian Armed Forces. He is a certified instructor in marksmanship, crew-served weapons, and foreign weapons, and also holds qualifications in Combat Water Survival, Intermediate Swim, gunsmithing, and RQ-11 Raven drone operation.

CHRIS

Chris is a Marine Corps veteran who served four years and left the service in 2025 after two deployments across the Pacific. He served as a grenadier, team leader, and squad leader in an infantry unit. He was selected for his unit’s Scout Sniper Platoon and completed the Marine Corps Scout Basic and Scout Advanced courses.

Chris’ training included long-range shooting on multiple weapon platforms, target interdiction, camouflage, stalking, and concealment for both personnel and equipment. Chris also completed fast roping and tactical vehicle driving courses. He assisted in cross-training Southeast Asian military partners in sniper craft and small unit tactics.

J

J works in the intelligence community, specializing in spycraft, surveillance, and counter- surveillance operations. He holds an active top-secret clearance and a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from Arizona State University. J has on-the-ground experience in Israel, where he trained alongside law enforcement, special operations, and intelligence community members in counterterrorism.

CC

CC is a retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander and former FBI supervisor with over two decades of experience in military, intelligence, and law enforcement operations. He served as an Air Warfare Specialist and Naval Flight Officer, including as an instructor for Top Gun aviators at Naval Air Station Fallon. His military career includes deployments supporting multiple overseas operations, during which he trained allied security forces and led maritime security missions alongside international coalition partners.

CC worked on counterterrorism operations both domestically and abroad during his FBI career and retired as a supervisor. He is a certified FBI Interview and Interrogation Instructor who has provided training to law enforcement agencies internationally. He holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and currently works in the intelligence community.

DOC A.

Doc A. is a U.S. Navy veteran and former Hospital Corpsman with a strong background in both operational and clinical medicine. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he provided emergency medical care for a 45 man Marine platoon in high-threat combat environments. After deployment, he served as a division surgeon at a naval hospital, overseeing clinical care operations and ensuring the medical readiness of hundreds of service members.

Following his military service, Doc A. transitioned into the civilian medical field, where he built an impressive career as a clinical specialist in urology and uro-oncology. He currently contracts at nearly every major hospital in the state of Arizona, working alongside leading surgeons and operating advanced surgical systems during complex procedures. Doc A. is an instructor in Combat Lifesaver (CLS), Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Doc holds certifications in CTM, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS). He is also trained in Mountain Warfare Medicine and Cold Weather Medicine, equipping him to deliver effective care in austere, high-risk environments.

CHARLES

Charles is an experienced Emergency Medical Technician with 5.5 years of service in Tucson. He spent 6 years on a Special Response Team (SRT) assigned to Department of Defense sites, providing high-risk security and emergency response. Following that, he worked for 2 years in detention operations at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Intake Center.

For the past 3 years, he has been employed by the State of Arizona, providing dignitary protection. Charles is an NRA-certified pistol instructor who actively competes in both carbine and pistol disciplines. He has completed multiple courses in firearms, advanced handcuffing, and tactics.

VICTOR

Victor holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Studies from Arizona State University and is a certified Emergency Medical Technician with 4.5 years of experience. He currently works as a Patient Care Technician in the Progressive Coronary Care Unit at HonorHealth Shea, where he assists in the care of high-acuity cardiac patients while continuing his education. Previously, he worked as a Medical Assistant at Arizona Medical Clinic, supporting physicians with patient care, procedural prep, and follow-up treatment across various specialties.

Victor has ongoing continuing education with certifications, including Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC), Stop the Bleed, and other advanced lifesaving courses. He has also shadowed physician assistants at the Mayo Clinic as part of his training and is currently pursuing his goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.

THOMAS

Thomas is a Marine Corps infantry veteran and active-duty police officer. During his time in the Marine Corps, he served as a machine gunner and squad leader. In law enforcement, he has held roles including patrol officer, field training officer, firearms instructor, sniper, and less-lethal operator. He is currently assigned to a full-time SWAT team.
